New For Friday

Image

When I am out of ideas or even just tired, and in need of some rest and relaxation I often turn to YouTube for inspiration.  Sometimes I go to YouTube for problem solving.  After all where else can you go for just about any information possible?

Today you will be watching an Abstract Art Demo by Karen Hale.  It impressed me when I saw how she used her colors, shapes, rulers,  pie-tins, and more.  When I started out in Water Color  I loved the look of w/c, but what I didn’t like was how structured, and perfect each thing each thing I did, had to be done just right or your painting didn’t come out right.  That is why I changed to acrylics, and oils.  W/C just didn’t dry fast enough, and it made me anxious, and uncomfortable.  Today I still use w/c when I travel, and journal, but they are small & dry more quickly.

Here is what I thought…

It would be fun to watch different YouTube videos on art.   Maybe abstract, mixed media, or collage.  Maybe something specific you want to see, how about you comment and let me know, and I’ll try to find what you are looking for and post it.  It could be fun, maybe we could all  learn something new, and we can share ideas.

I’m asking any, and all  of you out there in blogging land  to give me ideas on what you would like to learn or see, and I’ll blog it.   Get your thinking caps on, and let’s go for it!

This is a chance to get to know each other better, and share the things we love the most!

Life Goes On

Words Warrior's avatarThe Falling Thoughts

So many memories are buried

in my heart graveyard

Even those faces as well

I thought they would be hard

life goes on with her own pace

Fancy cars become part of the junkyard

Every pain has happiness before

don’t think narrow, think broad

do what you like and like what you do

you are free and slave of only one lord

everything has time and place

until the right moment don’t show your card

Life is precious and very short

Make it easy don’t make it hard

Dripping & Squirting!

Image

I ran into this video, and couldn’t help but use it for a Daily Post!

It has always been a dream of mine to paint like a three-year old, you know…Paint with Wild Abandon!  That is exactly what Aelite Andre is doing.  She must have an artist for a parent, and she must have been watching each time they painted.  Aelite has way too many toys to paint with, and is having way too much fun doing it.  Her parents are very special people!

What is the lesson here?

Could all this creating she is doing be giving her self-confidence.  Certainly it’s giving her the love of creating.  She loves to get her hands into the paint, just like many of us.  Maybe this love goes way back to when we were children…

Finger painting is one of the most fun things I can think of to do while painting.  I’m usually covered in pint when I get finished for the day.  Somewhere, somehow it isn’t a painting if there isn’t paint all over the place.

How about you?  Is finger painting part of the way you paint also? Do you see a little of yourself in Alita, or are you neet and clean when you are finished for the day?  What does this say of out personalities?

Holiday Ideas…

Image

Since we are now officially into October, the pressure is on for parents, and grandparents all over the globe.  The holidays are quickly coming, and those of us with smaller children, or children that are not so small, but are pretending to believe…(In the big man with the red suit)!  This isn’t just for those who celebrate Christmas, but celebrate the holidays in other ways as well.

The Hoverboard is just one idea for the older kid who is on the cusp of realizing if they still believe…..they will have more fun, and the holidays will still be all about them!  I know these are a little pricey, but this may be something your child or grandchild has wanted for a long time.  This little video tells you so mych about how easy it is to ride, and much more.  I have included a link to Amazon.com as a starting point for your research.  There are reviews on Amazon, and that’s where I start when researching a product I’m thinking about purchasing. FYI:  These come in different sizes, and different prices.  I’m told they are all made by the same company under different names, and I think this one is made in USA.

There is so much this time of year to do, and never enough time to do it in.  A huge effort is made in our home to relax and enjoy life regardless of the time of year.  The closer to the holidays we get the more frantic things become.  We still have little kids, who still believe, and far be it for me to tell them otherwise.  It is the children who make the holidays special in any home.

Sales, Sales, Sales

Any minute now we should be getting the holiday sale catalogues and adds for stuff you don’t even want.  Yippy…..more junk mail.  Soon we’ll need a larger recycle barrel.

Still it’s an exciting time, and as a grandma….I’ll will never get away  cheeply.

Thursday Time Out for Art

Part of my studio, the organized part!

Part of my studio, the organized part!

Is there anything you just can’t live without……..Concerning your craft.  It may be writing, or music, or painting, or cooking.  Each of us has something that they are passionate about.  For me, it’s my art!  And the very thing I love is the very thing that gives me grief.  Do I need to come outside the box more? Probably!

What I can’t live without….. is my art!

Within the thing I love, I have a few things I can’t live without.  An artist  might say it’s gesso, or a particular color. A musician might say, it’s their chosen instrument, or a particular piece of music.  They might even say it’s their creativity that makes them stand out in a crowd.  It really is our own individual creativity that makes us stand out!

I think we could all say, when their muse takes a vacation, they are on vacation also.

IMG_0703What would you say is the one or two things they can’t live without?  Your piano, your journals,  that luscious shade on Indian yellow, or even Marigold?   Marigold is one of my favorites, along with Quinacridone Purple.  Gorgeous!

And still I struggle….

Isn't this color gorgeous?

Isn’t this color gorgeous?

Recently I’ve noticed that I’m all backed up……creatively speaking that is.  I go through this a lot, and I don’t like it, not one little bit!  Maybe I need to go to some galleries, or take a walk on the beach.  We all need energy, and creativity flowing in and out all the time.  I’ve been lazy this summer.  The heat and humidity really took its toll, and I have air conditioning.  Not a good excuse for the Goldie Locks Girl that I am.  Maybe I should say I have had things on my plate, and it wasn’t paint! What is it, and how obsessed are you?
