Time Out for Art!

During our trip to Sante Fe in September, we took time to visit Taos.  As we drifted in and out of the galleries, a few things made me stop, and reflect on how they were made or painted, how much I liked them, and how they  filled me with inspiration.

These dolls were expecially interesting, and creative to me.  I couldn’t help myself, so I pulled out me trusty phone & snapped a picture!

Ok, I snapped several pictures…..     This abstract caught my attention because of it’s simplicity.  It occured to me that as artists…..some of us who shall not be named…..try too hard!

I am a big fan of abstract, and this painting caught my eye immediately.  I love using opposites in my artwork……..Shamefully I snapped pictures in this gallery, but wasn’t thoughtful enough to write down the name of the artist.  I do appologise for this, and will make an effort to never make this mistake again!

Thank you for enjoying the artwork, and thank you artist whoever you are.  I’m not copying your work, just admiring it with the world.

Time  Out For Art is inspired by Zebra Designs and Destinations, please check the blog out, it originates in Equador and has  very inspiring posts.

Time Out for Art

Collage by Sage Emery

Collage by Sage Emery

Last year my granddaughter Sage, who was seven at the time, created this Halloween collage.  I love the way she tore papers, glued them onto a canvas, and stenciled over the papers.  All this time without even realizing it, she was checking for balance, and she put a great deal of thought into her design.   I think it turned out pretty good for a seven-year old.

Today,  I asked her what her plans were for a free day, and she replied since it was cold out, she thought she’d do some sketching!   That’s my girl!!!

My inspiration in part comes from Zebra Designs & Destinations, I’m going to show her this blog in hope she will find some kind of inspiration also, check them out, it’s a pretty interesting blog!

Today being Thursday, it’s once again Time Out for Art Day!  I thought I’d throw in a little abstract painting I did a couple of years ago.   Maybe I’m trying to inspire myself to keep painting, or maybe it’s an attempt to get some of you to paint abstractly.  Abstract painting is  fun, and it finds its own way….

Day Nine: A Day in the Park

Day Nine: A Day in the Park

The sky is blue, not a cloud around, a soft breeze is teasing the leaves on the trees like a feather on bare skin.  There couldn’t be a more perfect day!

Hello, my name is Bleau, and I’m the Blue Bird of Happiness!  I fly from tree to tree, lawn to lawn foraging for worms, and little bugs.  All is well in my world today, my family has been fed, the wife and little peeps are taking their naps, and you can tell I’m happy by the way I chirp.

Meanwhile…

On a branch off to the side,  in the back way…out-of-the-way in a rather shaded quiet place, is an old dark furry caterpillar.

“Humph!”  Says this furry creature.  “This is hopeless, why do I even try?  I’m definitely not feeling it today!  It’s cold, windy, dreary, noisy, cloudy, and gray.  I haven’t any friends, absolutely no energy, my mind is foggy, I need a facelift, I could use a new lipstick, and the only thing I get called is, Yuck!  What’s the point of living?”  gag gag gag

Well Hello there…..

Some people call me Flutterby because, well…I flutter by!  I’m a very large, and most beautiful Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly.  I love nothing more than a warm sunny day in the park, where all around me are wonderful places to sit, and rest.  There is even a pond in this park for me to drink from and shade for me to get out of the sun if I need to.  When it gets really hot like today, without any breeze, it makes it hard to flutter around.  I need to rest in the shade, and drink from the pond more frequently.

Many times the children want to play games with me, so I fly around while the children chase me with nets.  They laugh, and scream with excitement, while I dodge, and dart all around the lawn.  They think I’m the most beautiful  girlie butterfly they have ever seen!

So far….I have won the game!

Day Eight: On A Path…..without adverbs!

Cheryl & Karen

This is my first photo transfer of my sister and I on a path…  I searched my photos to find everything I needed for this project, and I like how it turned out.

This path is  as you can see….without adverbs!  Or I should say, can you find any adverbs?
