Putting It Together…

Why do you suppose we create a project and stop just before it’s finished?

I do this all the time,  I start a project, and I’m over it before it’s completed.  Is everyone that way?  I’m over it, and ready to move on to the next thing.  This is clearly a flaw in my personality!

This is exactly what I’ve done with the “Woodland Spirit Doll” series.  I started these dolls when I was just out of the hospital and recuperating from hip surgery.  They were given all the patients and love, one would give a new puppy or a child.   Slowly they became little people and started to speak to me in a way that prompted me to give them each a different personality.

But, soon I realized they were far too delicate to place on a table or place on a nail and hang on the wall.  They needed protection…a box to place them in.  Now I’m getting into an area that I never planned to go to.  Boxes holding art pieces just hasen’t been my thing…but it is now!

I have put the largest into a frame with glass in front, and not wanting to remove it, I forgot to take a picture before putting it together.  The picture I did take, has a my reflection in the glass.  I apologize for this, I’m sure many of you can relate to this.

This is the first of the four Woodland Spirit Dolls, all mounted into a black glass covered box.  Once I get them mounted I’m finished.  The boxes have been purchased, and to top it off, I have dropped the fourth and smallest box and broke the glass.

Way to go Karen!  Sometimes one has to shoot themselves in the foot before the finish, just to make things fun!

The third and forth of the dolls are not yet finished, but when I’ve completed them, I will definitely post them.

I very very much appreciated all of you reading my post, it keeps me going.  Thank you

What Is Tyvek

Image

Many artists use Tyvek in their art, and in unexpected ways.  This is just one way of working with this amazing paper.  Both mixed media artists, and journalists use this product, and I’m guessing if we put our heads together we can find all kinds of ways to use Tyvek in our artwork.

This was interesting to me because it occurred to me that my way of using this product wouldn’t be like this, not that it’s wrong, it’s just not how I’d use it.  Admittedly I’ve only tried it once with the heat gun, and it did exactly what it did in this demo.  Working with it while it’s all bawled up and curled at the edges takes the steam out of my sails….so to speak.  As I’m thinking about it, Tyvek would be perfect for beads also.  Since I don’t make anything with hand-made beads, it’s only a suggestion…

Like a Three Year Old!

Image

After years of purchasing just the right art supplies to achieve just the perfect results, I now have a studio stuffed with supplies that I love using!

But…..

Who knew all I had to do was use what I was born with?  My fingers and hands, maybe even my feet...who knew?

As I started to watch this video my thought was, “this isn’t going anywhere.”  But, since I had started it, I always think  you never know what might be learned by watching.  It wasn’t very long and the blending of colors seemed interesting.  Then suddenly it started to take shape and I found it even more interesting.  Remembering back several years while taking a Bob Burridge week-long workshop in Sedona, Arizona.  We were finger painting, and suddenly I felt like a three-year old,  totally in the moment.  The class was intense, and fun, and exhausting, but well worth the effort, experience and money!

It didn’t take me long to realize being in the moment was actually where I needed to be.  Especially since I constantly fight to loosen up.  This felt real and fun, and doable!

I loved it!

Running into this artist, Dena,  who was finger painting was a perfect way to distance myself from the tendency to slip  into reality.  I hope you get some inspiration out of it as I have.

Thank you for following me, and commenting on videos  and my work.  I realize I’m not getting things out there like in the past, however I am working at it.  As you all know, there are times when life gets in the way.    Enjoy….

Isn’t This Art Too?

When I mentioned there were many kinds of art, I didn’t know of this artist.  I could probably sit and watch these pieces of wood for hours.  It’s increatable that he even thought of it.

Time Out For Art

Image

There are many kinds of art, not all require paint, or a pen and ink.  Think about it, there is an art to almost everything we do in life.  Gardening, and the love for it,  is in itself an art.  Music is an art, and kinds of music are all individual arts.  So, the fact that this group has come to put comedy and music together is an entirely different kind of art.

These musicians are in a class by themselves! Many couldn’t put all this together  in the name of comedy.  There are many such videos on YouTube to look at, and I hope you enjoy this particular kind of classical art.

Why don’t we create paintings with music in them?  Or literature with a melody?  Those who read incessantly, or paint with passion will tell you that most literature, and even paintings have a melody in them.  It only takes our mind to open up our eyes, and see what is in front of us, and often what others see.

Today has been inspired by Zebra Designs & Destinations.  They are located in Equator where the recent devistating earthquakes have taken place. I wish them all well as they recover.  My blessings to them all.
