Flipping” Friday

You Guessed it!

Before we wasted any more time fiddle farting (Technical Term) around with the drains.  We decided to just call a Drain Blaster Pearson.  He was nice enough to explain what he was doing, and nice enough to listen patiently while Les explained in detail what had been done.  God Bless the man!

It took him a while, but eventually, he fixed the problem as best he could.

Apparently we have a crack in the drain pipe, and sending him into unclog the pipe proved to give us little help.  Since the drain pipe has a crack, he not only pulled out the tiny vines, and dead leaves etc., he started to pull out larger roots.  Live roots that aren’t to be in a drain pipe.  So Yes, the drain cleaner guy did unclog some of the drain.  Since the crack is larger than we first thought, he was willing to bring in a camera for an additional $250., he suggested replacing the drain from Point A to Point B also..

Not Just NO, but Hell No!

That means jack hammering up the concrete, pulling the existing drain, replacing it, and repouring the concrete.  Since we aren’t doing any of that before the holidays, and depending on how well the drain works at all, there is no need for any cameras.  Not here, not now!

We are stuck with the expensive, noisy, and disruptive task of….You Guessed It..……digging up the concrete and repouring the drain.  You see, my studio is about 10 feet from  the drain, and if it backs up, it could get ugly.   I sure don’t want my studio to flood.  If the puddle gets so large it’s looking at my studio, my new Hickory floors, or our home,  we will be looking at sandbags.

I’m guessing we need to get some, and be ready just in case!

Thursday Time Out For Art

This is another way I love to paint.  I loved it when it was with WaterColor, I love it with acrylics, so when I found this my mind went crazy.  I have an entire roll of canvas I bought when it was on sale, and have only used a small portion, so this is a great time to drag out the old tube of artist canvas, and try something new!

Have you ever poured your paints?  It is so much fun, because it’s out of our hands!    As always, all bets are off with us artists.  It’s creative license we are practicing now!

Happy November

Saturday I spent the day with my two grandchildren, Connor and Sage.  Just before lunch I got hit with the big question!

“Your staying to help us carve pumpkins aren’t you grandma?”

There it was…the big question….the pumpkins!

All I could think of was how strange it was that my daughter asked if I was spending the Saturday with the kids.  Pumpkins are not my favorite things to carve.  Oh sure, I like some of the candy, but not the dirty work.

Once I thought about it, I realized that both my daughter, and son-in-law were working all day, and I’d bet money they were both tired.  The last thing they would want to do is carve pumpkins, so I sucked it up, and carved pumpkins with the kids.  Later the next day my daughter called to thank me for taking care of the carving.  She said they were both so tired, and it really helped to see them finished.   (Kudos for Gramcracker)

Well we have one Scary Guy, and one Magic Unicorn….

Remember we always sort through all the candy just to make sure there isn’t anything dangerous in the bag.  AND… it’s our duty to check to make sure there isn’t anything too rich.  Sometimes that means questionable things need to be removed.  Things like  Snickers Bars, Hershey  Mini Bars,  that candy is way to rich for the kids to eat.    If there is, it’s our duty to remove the candy and eat it to make sure it is OK.  This is a sacrifice we parents make for our children… Remember if you ever feel guilty about the removal of sugar foods from the bags,  if your children were to eat all that rich candy, they would be bouncing off the walls, and you would be a very unhappy parent.  So it’s for their own good.  They will never understand this until whey have children of their own.  Never feel guilty!

Someday they too will have to sacrifice themselves to protect their own children.

I’ve been doing this for years, and fortunately there is never anything bad in the candy bags.

Thursday Time Out for Art

This is what happens when you have time on your hands, and are too lazy to do anything else!

This little journal page was created last year, when I was having a difficult time creating something larger.  There are times when one just needs to contemplate, and be left alone.  I’m guessing this was one of those times……Journaling does the trick.  I don’t think there has ever been a time when slowing down to do little sketches, or doodling a little doesn’t help relax me, and open up the door to larger art.

Zebra Designs & Destinations sponsors Thursday Time Out For Art, and right now they are having a tough time with the weather.   Waves have hit on the beach of their little town El Matol in Ecuador, and things are looking very sketchy.  When storms hit their little beach  they erode the beach, and the waves get even closer to their homes and businesses.

El Matol needs all our positive thoughts, and prayers to help them.
