“Bunny Tails!”

Bubbles

Bubbles

It seems that Bubbles is now about seven months old, and when a female bunny is between six, and nine months of age, it time to bred.  So off she went to be breed….

Sweet Bubbles was getting a little aggressive, and not playing well with others!  After much talking with the “bunny breeder,” it was decided that this behavior was because she was ready to be bred….and so it went….

Now Bubbles is every bit a soft, and sweet as she looks, and we are looking forward to seeing  her tiny, or not so tiny baby bunnies.  We are told they can have rather large liters, not like us, way larger than us!  At this point it’s,  wait and see.

While Bubbles is going through all these life changes, Dusty is hanging around as men often do, eating grass, and hippity hopping around his large park-like yard.  Or in other words, Dusty is oblivious to whats going on with Bubbles.

By the way, if you remember after Dusty was neutered his ear flopped over.  Everyone thought he was sad, and the Bunny Dr. said it would stand up when he returned to normal.  Well, his ear is still flopped down, and seldom stands up.  We think Dusty is perfect even though he does have one lazy ear!

Thank you for hopping by to check on Bubbles and Dusty, there will be more excitement to come…

Dusty Bunny

Over Thanksgiving weekend I was able to take a few pictures of Dusty, and Bubbles. They are now the size of a small dog. I’m not talking about a Yorkies or a Chihuahuas, I’m talking a Bichons or a small Cocker Spaniel. These bunnies are big!
What about their ears?

While their noses are soft and warm, their ears are soft and velvety.  So soft they make you want to curl up with them, and take a nap.  No wonder kids love to have a stuffed bunny to hold on to when they are little!

Now that the  bunnies are bigger, they aren’t so cuddly, but they do stop, and let you scratch behind their ears. When you scratch  their ears,  they close their eyes, and you can almost hear them purr.

While dusty is about three or four months older, Bubbles is only six months old, and will grow another six to ten months before she is full-grown.  she still isn’t quite as big as dusty though.
I have actually seen Giant Flemish Rabbits that were forty or more pounds. Can you even imagine?

Thank you for hopping by to check Dusty and Bubbles out,  see you soon…..

Dusty’s Back!

Dust Bunny (Dusty)

Dust Bunny (Dusty)

Since the weather has been cooling off, and just before we are all gearing up for Thanksgiving, I thought we should visit Dusty. These two  pictures  are rare.  Bunnies never slow down long enough to get a good picture of them.

My daughter, and I have been trying to figure out what to get Sage, my granddaughter for Christmas. You would think it would be easy with all the girley stuff, be not this year!
After I received the emails with the pictures,  we were discussing how cute they were, and my daughter  came up with the idea to haveone of these pictures made into a puzzle. Sage will love that since, Dusty is her bunny.

So I ask my readers which picture do you think is better for a puzzle?  Top Picture, or bottom?

Dusty is growing big and strong, but out where he lives, it gets a little too cold to spend day, and night outside, so he gets to come in the house with Bubbles.  I’m sure only in California do we bring our animals into our homes to give them shelter, but yep they do come in during bad weather!  And they both use the litter box diligently.  Neither of them have ever had any accidents.

Dusty spends his days hippity hopping around his large green yard, chasing Bubbles now and then, and on a good day is allowed in the house at night.  All is well in the bunny world, and they are both growing, and growing getting bigger, and bigger.  Soon they will be the size of Harvey the Rabbit from the 1950’s movie “Harvey,” with James Stewart.

Thank you for taking time to hop by and see whats going on with Dusty, see you next time……

More About Bubbles the Bunny

Bubbles after a hard day of housecleaning!

Bubbles after a hard day of housecleaning!

Bubbles is now about three months old, and she is sporting some big, promising ears! Giant Flemish Rabbits are known for their long ears, and Bubbles is taking her title seriously.

She is such a good girl.

  • She helps around the house while her human mom is doing housework.
  • She eats all her food so she can grow big and strong…that            includes her ears.
  • She is a great companion to her best friends, Connor and Sage.

Yep, Bubbles is the perfect little girl to have around the house, or in the yard. Bubbles  (so far)  hasn’t  tried to escape the back yard like Dusty did.   Maybe she is too young to think of it, or maybe she is frightened to go out there.  Maybe Dusty even told her how terrified he was after his escape.  After all it is a big world, and a scary place for a bunny to run free.

While Bubbles is being such a princess, Dusty is still in prison, and being watched very carefully!

Each day is a new, exciting day for Bubbles as she learns, grows, and experiences her life with four other humans, and another Giant Flemish Rabbit named Dusty.

Thank you for stopping to read about Bubbles, there will be more so don’t forget to come back.

Bubbles is growing…..and growing fast.  She is a Giant Flemish Rabbit, and she is taking that title seriously!

Bubbles ex[loring her options.

Bubbles exploring her options.

I’m told by her humans that she is exceeding Dusty’s growth rate.  Dusty, and Bubbles haven’t officially met as yet.  Bubbles has her place in the house at night, and Dusty has a new, larger and even better place to live outside under the club house.

Dusty loves his new home, it gives him  a lot of extra room without having to be in a cage.  Dusty’s old cage is now Bubbles new home while outside, but since she is young, and it’s  really hot where they live, she only gets to go outside when it cools down.

It turns out that giving Flemish Rabbits too many of the foods that Bugs eats, like carrots,  and such, will stunt their  growth.  So for now, Bubbles’  humans will only feed her rabbit food.  But she can dream can’t she?  I swear that bunny can smell food right through the door!  Let  me asssure you, both Dusty, and Bubbles are getting plenty of love and attention.

Dusty is getting to be a bit of a handful since he’s gotten older.  Personally I think it because of all the bunny testosterone.  But that’s just my opinion.  He is still lovable, and so funny to watch.  He still loves to chase the kids around the yard, and act just exactly like a dog!  Maybe he thinks he is a dog.

Bubbles on the other hand, is a little, or not so little, love bug.  She is so soft, and personable I can’t believe, how anything could be that soft is beyond me.  I’ve really never been a bunny person, but    we did have a bunny when my daughter was little, and we lovingly called him “Stew Bunny!”  We never intended to eat him, it was just a cute name, however just so you don’t have to ask,  we don’t eat our friends.   Never have, and never will!

I want you to know that there will be more in the lives of Dusty, and Bubbles, and we thank you for reading our blog.
