A couple of years ago my son Dennis was contracted to play music for a large vacationing group on the Island of Tavarua.  This is a video taken of Dennis while he was having coffee in the main house one morning.  He lives, and breathes his guitar.  Although his first love would be the ocean, the beach, and surfing.

Tavarua in the morning…..

Dennis is also the owner of B.Entertained, and is locan to San Diego County.

Thursdays Time out for Art is hosted by Zebra Designs and Destinations.  Todays post features the art of music.

This little guy was frozen on our back fence one evening as we googled, and gawked at him.  He stayed there for what seemed like hours. I guess what they do, and why they say they play possum!   How could I not sketch him?  A little side information on Possums, I found interesting.

Time out for Art is inspired by Zebra Designs and Destinations.

This is a little painting I did after taking a couple of classes with Tracy Bautista.  She is a fun collage artist, and a teacher filled with ideas.  Time out for Art is inspired by ”Zebra Designs & Destinations.”  Check them out, I hope you find inspiration from them as I did.

Inspired by Zebra Designs & Destinations, this is my final post for the month of July…..

Sage's hand made doll.

Sage’s hand made doll.

My Granddaughter Sage recently spent a couple of days with us, and while she was here she asked to make a doll.  Shamefully, I purchased the muslin doll at Michael’s, and Sage picked out the buttons she insisted needed to be the eyes, the jewel nose, and I found the heart in my stash  for the “Heart!”  I had bought hair at her request, and misplaced it, so I found the yarn for hair in my stash.  Since I was unable to find clothes to buy, I sent her home with a doll without clothes for her mother to find!

Isn’t it wonderful being a Mixed Media artist, and saving all the things that speak to you, and then just when you need it most – looking through all the stuff – you find the perfect yarn for hair, or a perfect red heart to place on the chest of a special doll?  Pulling out my trusty glue gun, a needle, and embroidery thread…..it all came together!

I was sitting outside realizing the other day, and looked over to the side of my yard only to see this amazing slash of color.  I haven’t any idea what their names are, but the oranges and reds were a glow in the sunlight, and it took my breath away.

Since this is Thursday Time out for Art, I thought Zebra Designs & Destinations would like to see what a Southern California back yard might look like.  We’ve gone succulents because of our water shortage, but with these colors we’re not missing out on much.

If you hadn’t realized before, I love color!!!  The more the better, and I often get into trouble because I’m unable to edit, and soften my color choices.  I’ve been doing little sketches, and journaling like this for quite a while, but it wasn’t until I found Zebra Designs & Destinations that I realized, if Z can do it, I can do it!!!
