This is what one would call cells. They have a kind of interesting shapes, colors, and movement to them. I never know if this will be something I’ll ever use, but should I ever think I need something different, maybe this will be just exactly the ticket!
I’ve only seen one demo by Chris Cozen, but when I did my inner child had a very good time. Chris is a mixed media artist living in Southern California. She is fun to watch, and will get you thinking you need “more paints,” “more supplies!”
I kid you not, your inner child will squeal with joy!
Last week a blogged about Millie Gift Smith’s watercolor landscape. Today I’m playing the Second Part to the video.
You know I love to create in different ways, and I’m always up for a challenge. When I ran into this video, I thought it might be an interesting project in the near future. A friend of mine has been telling me about bleach pen art, and how she’d like to play around with the idea. I think it might be fun to try…….what about you?
I am amazed that the love of painting clearly is a driver in Millie’s life. I’ve grown to love her zest in life, the drive to still do videos, and the knowledge and confidence she shares with us as viewers. I’ve always believed that there is at least one thing you can learn by being in a class, or watching a video such as this one.
Today I’m showing “Millie Gift Smith‘s,” Part 1 – Michigan Landscape in Watercolor. In my view, watching this video gives me more self-confidence. Being perfect is a cruel allusion someone has dreamed up to make us feel less that we are! It took me a while, but I finally learned (in my opinion), perfect is for cameras, interesting, clever, and creative is for artists!
Watch how Millie teaches us to easily paint with watercolors. You don’t need to know everything, just where to get the information you need. I’d say this video is a good way to start using watercolors.
Last weekend my Granddaughter Sage spent the weekend with us. Before she left her house, she told me she wanted an art weekend. Actually she said, ” I want to be able to do art all weekend, just two days to do art, nothing else!”
I think God created granddaughters because we have to make up for what we couldn’t do with our own kids!
Somebody wants to spend the weekend with me…
Sage finished three paintings over the weekend, one of the three was a school project. This piece of her project was completed in a half day. (We got that out-of-the-way!) The other painting was wrapped & given to her Mom as soon as she appeared. (Still needs her Mom at eleven.)
I had such a great time with my granddaughter, and she had a great time creating. (I’m blessed!)
While Sage was painting, and drying her work, I had to work on something. I didn’t want to be looking over her shoulder all day, I wanted her to build her confidence by having some guidance, and letting her fly. ( She’s a flier!)
I worked on my Daisy Dog Pic… Admittedly, I was once again playing, and nothing happened to me…No Anti-playing Police, or the Poor Linework Police, not even the police that monitor the imperfection on ones creative process!
There was a time when I would never have painted with a color that shouldn’t be in its place. It would have to be real or, I wouldn’t do it. I’ve over come nearly a lifetime of being taught perfection, and it being demanded. I broke out of the box, years ago, but not without the expense of everything I painted not being any good – because it wasn’t perfect. I looked around and realized Everything is perfect in its imperfection.
(I love doing different things, and with different ways of expression.)
