If you can’t paint, drink it!

Image

I know this is really simple, but sometimes simple is better.  I’ve been busy painting during the day, and watching TV and making dinner for my husband in the evening.  All in all, I forget to sit down and post until I’m in bet late at night.  I awake with great intentions,  but my day gets away from me.

Excuses, excuses!

Even though I am giving excuses, we are all busy and I’m sure at times all our days get busy.  So enough.  I found this extremely simple video, and thought if I can paint a wine glass like this, I can paint an abstract glass with wine.  My theory being if it doesn’t work,  and painting this seems impossible,  drink your model!!!  Try it, it may work for a relaxing afternoon or evening!

Thank you for checking up on Stone Soup,  I’ll post paintings as soon as I’m sure they are finished.  See you soon….

Extreme Abstract

Artist Chris Bergstrom

I’m posting this abstract because  I can’t seem to get inspiration from my muse.  If fact I think, she’s on vacation….

This is a painting by artist Chris Bergstrom.  Chris is a fairly new artist, he’s only been painting since 2008, and as he grows as an artist I’m amazed at some of the work he creates.  He is humble, doesn’t allow others opinions to bother him, but still listens to legitimate critics.

When I look at an abstract, I sit and digest the art for a while.  As it sinks in, it changes my opinion of an abstract completely.  And of course, one either finds something they like, or never find anything they like about it. I have always thought the job of an artist was to create emotion.

That’s art, and you can’t please everyone.  It’s OK!

Happy Holidays

Image

While my entire family is busy scurrying around trying to get the last-minute things accomplished, I wanted to wish all of you a wonderful, Holiday Season, and a safe, prosperous, and healthy 2018.

Can you believe we are getting ready to enter the beginning of another year. My life is flying by before my eyes!  All the while, my art is being pushed back farther.   I’m just not feeling it right now.

Be safe this season as the crazies are out, people are thinking of many things, and sometimes not paying attention to driving.

My Blessings to all of you…..see you next year!

Call me crazy!

After trying for hours to get to sleep one morning this week, I decided to  search YouTube for something interesting to show you.  I’ve always been fascinated with street art, and this basic how to was interesting.  I hope you are as intrigued as I was with it.  Maybe it will kick-start our art in a whole new direction.

Let me know what you think, or email me some of your art.  Thank you for stopping by and checking out Stone Soup.

What Color are you today?

Image

Today I’m sitting here, feeling very mellow, and it occurred to me that if I had to paint how I feel, I’m not sure I could figure out what color I’d be.  Mellow being a good mellow!   I’m definitely not Blue…

Santa Fe skies

For sure I’m not feeling green…

I definitely don’t feel dirty, or brown…

Or even in the shadows….

So how do we paint our feelings?   I’m happy, well fed, relaxed, safe, loved, and……mellow.  How do I paint all that and clean too?

Have you ever tried to paint how you feel in a color?  If you were to do that, what color would you use, would it change daily, weekly, or at all?

This is what I feel like today..mellow, and happy!

Thanks for stopping by to check on Stone Soup.  See you next time..

Easy, and Fun

Image

I posted this video of Tag Art because sometimes we need to create on a smaller scale.  That’s me!  While on vacation, I journaled, and I love doing that.  I have many journals, some finished, some almost empty.  Yet when Aron Bros. has a sale on journals, or sketch books, I must rush out and take advantage of the Sale!

When I get bottled up, or stuck and can’t imagine anything to paint I paint rocks.  Now I’ve found tags.,…..shipping tags,  sale tags, and anything I can collage, or glue something onto.  They start out looking plain, unimpressive, and grow into themselves.

While I just had carpel tunnel surgery, I’ll be having a knee replacement in a couple of weeks, and will be glad I have something small to play with during recuperation.  The something small being tags.  I hope this little video gives you some ideas to use with not only tag art, but larger mixed midea pieces as well.
